A Happy Ending for “Highway”

She survived for over a year among the freeways surrounding Fort Worth. Finally captured by the Humane Society, she was feral and fearful of human contact.

But as the song says, just look at her now. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram has the happy details, including a video, on the dog named Highway and her forever home.

There are around 75,000 dogs in the United States. Each of them produces, on average, a pound of waste a day.

That’s a lot of dog poop. And most of it is either left on the ground, where it can contaminate water, or wrapped in plastic and sent to a landfill.

The Detroit Free Press reports on Curt Fournier’s response — the Powerloo, an in-ground doggie toilet that connects to existing sewer lines.
