Our dog food is NOT part of the recall

We sell Canidae and Bil-Jac dog foods at our Austin store. They are NOT part of the mass recall of 60 million cans of dog and cat food announced recently.

According to the Associated Press, the recalled foods are manufactured by a contractor called Menu Foods and sold under a wide variety of store brand names, plus Iams and Eukanuba. According to the AP:

Below are lists of specific brands recalled by Menu Foods, in addition to Proctor & Gamble’s recall of certain Iams and Eukanuba products. Menu Brands lists the brands on its Web site, www.menufoods.com, and advises consumers to call 1-866-895-2708 for more information.

Quite a Triumph

As reported by CBS News in Denver, Triumph the Husky is the first dog to receive permanent implanted prosthetic legs:

It is a tiring trip from Nashville to Denver, and Triumph is doing it for the seventh time in the last 18 months. But this may be the last one for the intrepid Siberian Husky and owner Marion Moeller for some time.

She’s come a long way from the country of Turkey, where Triumph was found with her back legs cut off. In August of 2005, Triumph was the first dog ever to have artificial legs permanently implanted.

It took months for the skin and the bone to grow into the special foam metal. Triumph fought infection, and had to have one of the prostheses replaced. Now her doctor in Denver and her owner from Nashville hope the patient can finally be a pup again.

“The reason that we did this is so that she could lead a normal life,” said veterinarian Robert Taylor.

The Amazing Anxiety Wrap

(Our selection of Anxiety Wraps is here)

We’ve learned from our own experience and that of scores of customers how the Anxiety Wrap can bring blessed relief to even the most thunder-phobic dogs.

In our own experience, it has been nothing short of amazing in the way it calms dogs who were beside themselves with anxiety - drooling, whining, pacing, scratching - whenever a storm threatened.

The Anxiety Wrap creates light pressure on the skin to help calm an animal and reduce anxiety and stress. It has been used successfully in thunder storms and other stress and fear situations, including motion sickness, separation anxiety, aggression and to reduce resistance to nail trimming and ear cleaning.
