The word is that the First Family hopes to adopt a Portuguese Water Dog sometime next month. The Obamas’ elder daughter, Malia, has allergies, and the PWD sheds less than most dogs because of its coat.

But there’s more to this breed than being allergy-friendly. They’re also known for being smart, energetic, and high-maintenance.
If the Obamas do get a PWD, they may have their hands full.
