Leona Helmsley, whose real estate fortune grew to $5 billion dollars, left most of it to charity. Dog- and animal-related charities are the only category specifically mentioned in the papers for the Helmsley Trust, so one might think they’d be getting a lot of that money.

Not so, say three animal-welfare groups. Instead, only $100,000 has so far been disbursed to organizations like theirs. So they’ve filed suit to claim what they say is their fair share of the money — a lot more than they’ve received to date.
