As summer brings sweltering heat and record temperatures in some areas, officials are reminding pet owners that a locked car is no place for Fido or Fluffy.
Even on a day that’s not that warm, dogs can overheat very quickly; even a few minutes can be fatal. Police in many areas warn that they will break into locked cars if they find an animal in distress.
It’s best not to leave your dog in your car at all. But if you must, include water and roll the windows down for air flow.
