Dog Elected Honorary Mayor of Kentucky Town

Lucy Lou, a border collie, won the most votes in Rabbit Hash, KY‘s mayoral contest. Toby, an English Springer Spaniel, was first runner-up, while Travis the cat placed third. Other contestants included a miniature donkey named Higgins, nine other dogs, an opossum, and one human.

The town has only three official residents, but attracts a large number of visitors, including artists and musicians who appreciate its timelessness and sense of community. People from all over the world voted for their favorite candidates on the Rabbit Hash Historical Society’s website. The contest raised $21,000, which will be used to maintain the town’s historical integrity. Lucy Lou will lend a paw to other fundraising events and activities.
