A new way to bond with your dog
Yes, it’s true. From Manhattan to Seattle, doga is the latest trend among busy dog owners (more photos at the link).
Doga involves gentle stretching for both dogs and their humans, as well as massage for the dog. Kristyn Caliendo, who teaches doga in Chicago, focuses her classes on poses and massage for dogs aimed at improving digestion and heart function, and poses for people that emphasize stress reduction and feeling well.
Kari Harendorf teaches doga in Manhattan. “People always ask me, ‘Do dogs need yoga?’” she said. “I say, ‘No, you need yoga. But your dog needs your attention, and bonding with your pet is good for your health.’”
Besides, Ms. Harendorf adds, “Jobs are disappearing. Mortgage payments are looming. Change is everywhere, but your dog remains steadfast. So, why not spend time together?”
