Eight-Year Disappearance a Mystery

Where has Dancer been all this time?

Alison Murphy has no idea. Her brown-and-white dog wandered off one day eight years ago.

Now she’s back, thanks to the microchip that was implanted way back then. A man had found her wandering in his neighborhood — 45 miles away from Murphy — and took her in to be checked for a chip.

Murphy says Dancer is still the “same old girl,” with one exception. She now answers to the name Fern.

The Houston Chronicle’s article doesn’t explain where the new name came from. If someone else gave it to her, how do Murphy, et al. know what it is? It’s not the sort of name you’d pick out of the air if you were trying to guess what a dog was called.

Another mystery.
