Leo Plays Lassie

Happy New Year to Dogblog readers!

A bit of belated good news – a boy’s family got an early Christmas present last month when he went missing in the woods behind their house in Massachusetts.

Just like the classic canine TV star, Leo, a police dog, was on the job.

The boy’s mother reported him missing at around 6 p.m., as temperatures were dropping sharply. Leo, a Belgian shepherd, headed out with Officer Brett Rossicone.

Leo soon picked up the boy’s scent. He led Rossicone straight to the missing child, who was asleep on the ground in the woods.

The boy went home unharmed, thanks to Leo’s keen nose and quick work. The local police budget can’t afford their star detective, so most of his food and vet bills are paid by a charitable fund set up by the local Rotary and Lions clubs. There’s no doubt that’s money well spent.

Kudos to Leo and Office Rossicone.
