Microchip Reunites Dog and Owner

Once upon a time, a dog named Sai decided to chase a cat.

He never came back.

His owner, Cheryl Chaudhary, who had actually helped whelp him, felt as if she had lost her child. She put up flyers, followed false leads, and finally, after months, stopped looking.

But she never gave up hope entirely, for one reason – Sai was microchipped.

Still, when the Watsonville, California shelter called and said they had Sai, she couldn’t quite believe them; it had been 14 months since he disappeared on his cat jaunt.

Shelter employee Tricia Geisreiter says when Chaudhary came into the shelter and saw Sai, she “burst into tears” and “collapsed on the floor.”

Now that Sai is back home, both he and Chaudhary are adjusting. Sai is “really quiet,” but cheers up when he visits his favorite dog beach.

Chaudhary dreamed about Sai when he first disappeared, but says she hadn’t done so “in a really long time.” But two nights before the shelter called, she dreamed that she heard Sai crying. “And I’m not a religious person, but I prayed that I’d get him back. I honestly believe that I was hearing him wherever he was.”
