Alexandra Horowitz’s “Inside of a Dog: What Dogs See, Smell, and Know” gives readers the latest research into what we know about dogs.

For example, dogs are the only known species, besides humans, that can properly interpret a pointing finger. (If you’d like to sign your dog up for the research lab mentioned at that link, they’re still taking applications.)

The more we understand about our furry friends, the better we’ll be able to work with them to our mutual benefit.
