Rescued Dogs Arrive at Shelter

More than 200 dogs rescued from a puppy mill in Missouri arrived safely at a shelter on Monday. (Video at the link)

The dogs, which were of several different breeds, from shih tzus, terriers and poodles to labradors and golden retrievers, were taken to the North Shore Animal League America in Port Washington, New York, the largest no-kill shelter in the world.

Volunteers said the dogs had been neglected at the mill. Most had rotted teeth and matted fur; some had nails that had grown over an inch long. All were about to be disposed of after reaching the end of their breeding usefulness.

The NSALA has just completed an adoption drive, so they have plenty of room for the rescued dogs as well as local animals that need help.
