When Pepper disappeared while his family was on vacation, they thought they’d lost him forever.
But 9 months and 425 miles later, he’s back where he belongs.
Pepper, back home
The Carter family still doesn’t know how Pepper got from Georgia to Florida, but they’re grateful to Jay Getman, a dog lover in St. Petersburg.
When Pepper wandered into his travel agency, Getman took him home, cleaned him up, and took him to his vet. Because Pepper was microchipped, the vet was able to provide the Carters’ contact information.
Now Pepper is back to stealing shoes and leaving them “in exactly the same places he used to,” as if he’d never been gone. And the Carters, who adopted another rescue dog while Pepper was gone, have two happy pooches in their family.
