Scientists have identified what they believe to be the world’s first known dog.
Its fossils go back 31,700 years, which pushes the development of dogs farther back than previously known. The second-oldest dog fossils are only 14,000 years old.
The early dog, say the scientists, was about the shape of the Siberian Husky shown above, but it was bigger – more the size of a large shepherd dog. Its teeth were also bigger than those of today’s dogs, closer to wolves’ teeth.
