When Working Dogs Retire

Some dogs retire with their handlers. For others, it’s not so easy.

Working dogs [...] are often forced to retire by age, illness or injury. But finding adoptive homes for retired working dogs can sometimes be challenging if they require medical care or have behavioral issues.

I have to admit this part horrified me: “Sled dogs pose a variety of challenges as house pets. Often they walk in circles because they’ve been tied to posts all their lives.”
