Yuma, AZ doesn’t have a park dedicated to pets, so residents there are taking things into their own hands – and paws.
A fundraiser held yesterday brought hundreds of dogs and people to the same location where the park will be built. The proceeds will help defray the cost of the park, estimated at $70,000. Some of the money raised will also help build a new shelter, since the county has outgrown its current one.

Kuma and friends at the Walk-n-Wag
The Yuma Parks and Recreation District says,
When completed, Yuma’s dog park will feature grass to run on, trees for shade, water for pets and people as well as benches for two-legged dog lovers to rest on while their four-legged friends frolic. There will be a variety of play apparatus installed that will help pets stay healthy and alert both physically and mentally.
The Humane Society of Yuma co-sponsored the fundraiser.
